Dennis McGuire, Ph.D. is a nationally recognized expert in the mental wellness of teens and adults with Down Syndrome. He has over 28 years clinical experience and has worked with more than 6,000 teens and adults with Down syndrome from ages 11 to 82 and their families. His career has spanned 40 years in the mental health and developmental disabilities fields, including helping to establish the Adult Down Syndrome Center in Chicago in 1992 and as Senior Consultant for the Global Down Syndrome Foundation in Denver Colorado. He is the co-author of Mental Wellness of Adults with Down Syndrome and Guide to Good Health in Teens and Adults with Down Syndrome. Dr. McGuire’s lectures are designed to give parents practical guidance for real life situations. He encourages parent sharing, suggestions and questions throughout the day.
